Who We Are

Our Team

At Juneau Land and Sea Adventures, our team brings decades of experience on Alaska’s waters and trails. Our backgrounds include service in the U.S. Coast Guard, work with NOAA, and years spent exploring the rugged wilderness of Southeast Alaska. All of that experience shaped a deep respect for the environment and a genuine love for sharing it with others.

For us, guiding is more than pointing out the scenery. It’s about the stories, the wildlife, and the moments that make Alaska stay with people long after they leave. Some days that means watching whales surface just off the boat. Other days it’s paddling through quiet coastal inlets where everything slows down for a while.

Safety, knowledge, and a good sense of humor are the foundation of every trip we run. Our goal is simple: we want every guest to feel like they explored Juneau with people who truly know and care about this place.

Carl

Captain & Founder

Carl is a U.S. Coast Guard–licensed Master Mariner with more than 30 years on the water. He spent 26 years in the Coast Guard and later worked with NOAA, building a career centered around navigation, safety, and life at sea.

Those years gave Carl a deep understanding of Southeast Alaska’s waters and weather. Just as important, they gave him a real appreciation for the wild places around Juneau.

Carl started Juneau Land and Sea Adventures to share that experience with others. His goal is simple: give visitors a safe, honest look at Alaska while showing them the places and wildlife that make this part of the world so special.

Jason

Guide

Jason is an outdoorsman who genuinely enjoys being out in Alaska’s wilderness. Guiding gives him the chance to share that excitement with people who may be seeing this landscape for the first time.

He spends his time leading hikes, helping guests explore the coastline, and sharing what he’s learned about the area along the way. Jason has a relaxed sense of humor and an easygoing style that helps people feel comfortable right away.

He also stays active outside of guiding and spends plenty of time in the gym, which helps keep up with the demands of working in Alaska’s rugged terrain.

Kassandra

Guide

Kassandra grew up cutting wood and camping in remote areas with her dad, which helped her become comfortable in the outdoors at a young age. Those experiences taught her how to stay prepared, stay positive, and look out for the people around her.

She naturally takes on the role of making sure everyone has what they need and that trips run smoothly. Kassandra loves hiking, wildlife, and photography, and she enjoys helping people slow down long enough to notice the details around them.

She’s also the kind of person who keeps spirits high when the trail gets tough. And if a fire needs to be started at the end of the day, she’s usually the one everyone looks to.

Brett

Guide

Brett was raised by his grandparents and learned a great deal from his grandfather Jim, a Marine who fought in World War II. After the war, Jim became a rifle instructor, worked as a lumberjack, and started a construction company that is still in the family today. Growing up around him gave Brett a strong respect for hard work and the outdoors.

Before coming to Alaska, Brett worked as a tour guide in Jerome, Arizona. Guests consistently left positive reviews, often mentioning how easy he was to talk to and how much they enjoyed the experience.

Brett has a natural ability to learn quickly and remember details about the places he guides. He also enjoys music, photography, hiking, and spending time outdoors whenever possible. One of his favorite parts of guiding is meeting new people and having conversations with guests from all kinds of backgrounds.

Noah

Guide

Noah first came to Alaska in 2022 to guide kayaking and river rafting tours and was immediately drawn to the wildlife and scenic hikes around Juneau. It’s a place that’s kept him coming back ever since.

Originally from Duluth, Minnesota, he grew up spending his summers hiking, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and camping, building a strong connection to the outdoors from an early age. As the lead hiking guide, Noah brings that experience to every tour, helping guests enjoy the trails in a way that feels comfortable, engaging, and memorable.

Guided by People Who Love Alaska

Juneau Land and Sea Adventures is growing into a team of guides who truly enjoy sharing the outdoors with others. Each of us brings different experiences to the table, from time spent on the water to years exploring trails and remote places.

As we continue building the team, our focus stays the same: creating small, personal adventures that let visitors experience Juneau the way locals do.

For us, the best trips aren’t rushed or crowded. They’re the ones where people slow down, take in the scenery, learn something new, and leave with stories worth telling.
